The dream shopping list

I've been thinking about this post for awhile, because lately there seem to be quite a few items that I'm dreaming of one day being able to actually purchase.  So in the meantime, I thought I'd make a list here of those fashion accessory staples that I would own if I could...

First up is the over-the-shoulder Chanel quilted purse.  Seriously a must-have but they go for around a grand so I suppose I'll have to wait.
Next item on my list is Hunter Wellies.  Not exactly something that I can't afford right now but for some reason I've never made the purchase.  I just love how classic they look AND they come in sooooo many colors! I don't even know how I would chose!
Next would have to be the ultimate sunglasses - Ray-Ban Wayfarers.  This is another one that I could probably actually afford now that I have a real job, but I just can't make myself pay over $100 for sunglasses - I just know I would lose or break them, even though I generally have an excellent track record with sunglasses. So classic.

Another must-have-but totally-not-ready-to-splurge-on item for me is a gold menswear-inspired Kenneth Cole watch.  I couldn't find a picture of the exact one that I like, but it's been out for a couple years now and I just still love it and want it every time I see it in department stores.  However, according to my mom gold doesn't look good on me, so maybe I'll never make the splurge.

One that I will probably NEVER purchase because it's just so much money for a SCARF is a classic Burberry checked scarf.  So timeless and so pretty - dang it's really sounding like I need a sugar daddy to do some shopping for me!

Something that will come as no surprise to any woman that I yearn for is a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps.  In black and nude, please and thank you.  Another one that I'm almost guarunteed never to own because of the outrageous price tag, but a girl can dream, right?  One time I accidentally went into their boutique in Miami, thinking it was a museum or something, and it was.  A museum for shoes. Gahh it was like heaven.

I've also been thinking about those - absolutely can't live without them in my wardrobe - clothing pieces that I love. Stay tuned!

Office wall art

My office was extremely cell-like when I first moved in and I've slowly been making some changes to help me not feel so terrible about spending hours upon hours there every day. The first big improvement was a new paint color, and recently I made a funky mismatched frame wall to spice things up!

I started by arranging the frames on my floor into a grouping I liked.

Then I took the paper I'd made marks on and taped it up to the wall and put nails in all the right places.

Once the paper came down the frames (and a big W for Wolpers-that's my building) went up!  You can't really see the wall color in these shots, but it's a very nice blue-ish gray that is a vast improvement from the manilla color they used to be.

I love it! From left to right, you see:
  • A vintage clock that my Mom had in her first apartment ever
  • A mini-frame from Hobby Lobby (50% off of course) with a picture of me and some of my staff members
  • A mod-podged frame I did in college with a picture of me and Danny
  • A clearance frame from Macy's featuring a shot of me and friends in Miami
  • A tiny frame with a very old college pic,
  • A glorious gold frame from a thrift store in jeff city featuring one of my favorite pics of me and my cousins
  • 2 cheap wal-mart frames in the taupe and silver variety and that's me and Danny then me and my grad school friends in each of them
  • An awesome crochet tiger also thrifted locally
  • And a recylced wooden frame I scored on sale from Macy's with a picture of the whole fam!
  • The lamp and the big W are from Hobby Lobby too...always a favorite for the 50% off sale!

I also found some really pretty fabric at the Hobby Lobby and covered a bulletin board that hangs on the other wall.

Overall I think it's a major improvement! I love having pics of friends and family to look at thought the day instead of just a blank wall.

Quick and cheap bed re-style

Lately I've been so over my messy bed area. Thanks to my mom and a really great deal at target my bedroom recently took a turn for the sleek.

Before...the quilt is one my grandma made me which I love but I really wanted to use my old down comforter instead for a little extra warmth in the winter months.

And after...my mom scored the duvet cover and sham set on clearance and then a couple weeks later I got these awesome modern lamps for $8 each!

I admit it's looking a little sparse and hotel-like right now but all it needs is a cool cover for the headboard and a throw pillow or 2. I'm also working on something to hang on the wall above the bed. Not done yet but definitely coming along!
